The Gender Debate
People have no idea how strange, underground, messy and even dirty are the places we have to go in order to do non-authorized Graffiti. Far from the tidy and cosy environments that surround fashionable murals in festivals, some urban places might be dangerous.
No wonder they don't atract female artists. There are very few writers who are women and some would say Graffiti is a sort of chauvinist practice.
It's known that Graffiti can be thought provoking on a variety of levels, from aesthetic to social. It can also be challenging in terms of gender issues.
