The System That Maintains Order
"Today, humans continue to expand cities across the face of the earth and destroy jungles, forests, and everything else in order to grow and extract natural resources for the planet's hyperconsuming and growing population. For the first time in the history of man more people live in cities than in rural communities. These urban metropolises teeming with people and life have created an industrialized work-driven society where people are born to become the next generation of workers feeding the capitalist system that maintains order.
These concrete urban jungles are playgrounds for kids and imaginative adults who have resisted the pull of monotony. Graffiti writers and street artists have been rebelling against the boredom and pale coloured walls for decades by painting them with multicoloured versions of their aliases and, more recently, with images that convert the city walls into an artist's playground covered by imaginative ideas painted in stencils, posters, murals and other forms of expression."
