Street Art Nation

«A newly discovered country exists without borders, leaders, and ironclad laws. Its citizens carry no official identification: the paint stains on clothes and hands, or a camera for photographing an alley wall, stand as informal documents of citizenship. This land has no military defense; its only protection is a good hiding place for a piece of cutout material and a spray can, and extra pairs of eyes looking out for the police. To become a member of this nation, one only has to think up an idea, put it on a piece of paper or plastic, cut it out, and paint it somewhere. Another path to citizenship originates with those who appreciate the painted art, seek it out, document it, and enjoy a fresh alternative to mainstream urban culture.»
